Buying insurance is challenging, especially for an asset like a property that is potentially exposed to extreme climate events like hurricanes or wildfires:
There is a lot of activity filling out applications (some still done with pen and paper).
Then there are the quote comparisons, if you get a quote.
Then there is the head scratching around why the premiums are so different (and so high).
This is what happened when one of our co-founders bought a second home in coastal South Carolina. Even as an insurance professional, he was befuddled by the experience. Worse, he felt he was not any more insightful about the risks his new property was exposed to. Whether his insurance was adequate (or not) and more critically, if he could invest in mitigation to reduce the risk and the cost to insure that risk.
It was this experience that has become the driver of Green Shield Risk Solutions.
What if all stakeholders in a property understood what were the drivers of risk AND what could and should be done to prevent and mitigate future losses?
What if property owners could have, at their fingertips, a complete diagnostic dashboard that tells them the current replacement cost of their structure & contents, the current condition of their roof, and a complete set of estimated loss statistics that they could use to make decisions?
We believe strongly that the key to climate resiliency is proper risk management. The best claim is one that is proactively avoided. And the key to proactive prevention is information, or what we call risk transparency.
Because of this poor insurance buying experience, we are building the first Loss Control as a Service platform in existence. Finally actionable risk insights, at your fingertips.
